Wicked is the adaptation of the famous stage show and is based on the famous story, The Wizard of Oz. I had high expectations with this film, but I never knew how much love I would actually have for it. The set pieces and VFX are incredible, but the songs in this film were outstanding, especially from Cynthia Erivo who plays Elphaba the Wicked Witch. Her voice is more than extraordinary! There are some references to The Wizard of Oz that are cleverly placed into the movie. The ending scene was one of the most clap worthy, teary eyed moments I have ever seen in a movie. That was the best part about Wicked. The criticisms in this film though do hold it back just a little. The runtime is quite long and people would quite frankly fall asleep through it. For me this is also the kind of film I wouldn't watch every movie night. There's something about musicals I don't enjoy as much as superhero, comedy, or even animated movies. Aside from the downfalls, I recommend giving this movie a watch, but if you're not into long movies, stream it or purchase to watch in intervals at home.
