Thunderbolts* is the latest Marvel Studios film and the last released in Phase 5. This movie has been marketed quite differently to all the other Marvel films. There has been an asterix after the word Thunderbolts, which is a smart move from Marvel, so I was interested to see what it meant. After a couple of months went by, I saw more and more trailers for this film, and I had a feeling that it would be awesome and that it would be one of the best Marvel Studios movies post-Endgame and in general. So now after watching Thunderbolts*; it was awesome and is one of the best Marvel Studios movies post-Endgame and in general!

I adored the characters especially Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova! She was the highlight of all scenes she was in. Wyatt Russell as US Agent and Lewis Pullman as Bob were great! They were really good at playing their role, with Bob having a little twist from his persona. However, someone I thought was hilarious and made the movie even greater was David Harbour as the Red Guardian. He was fantastic! Every joke from him made me laugh! The plot was really basic, but it worked with telling an emotional story. However, the message of the whole movie was the most amazing part. Marvel Studios don’t always balance the humour and serious moments in their films well, but in this movie, I feel they got it right. There are funny moments and surprisingly dark and serious moments. There are themes that involve people in everyday life and it really makes it emotional and heartwarming.

There are only a couple of minor negatives. First off, when Bob gets his twist, they don’t really explain anything and just jump into it. The ending was a little rushed when they did this, but I appreciate they did this to set themselves up for Avengers: Doomsday. There is a particular part in the movie relating to the villain, however it only impacts a couple of characters and feel it was a good opportunity to target all key characters. So, I wish that had happened, however it’s hard to explain unless you’ve seen the movie.

Thunderbolts* is an awesome movie which felt like classic Marvel Studios. After Avengers: Endgame there hasn’t been that many films I’ve loved, the others are just ok. However, this movie brings Marvel all the way back to the charm of Phase 1, 2, and 3, which was when Marvel was at their peak. I highly recommend this film if you are a true Marvel fan, or even if you’re just getting started. Stay watching for two post credit scenes, the first is just a funny gag, but the second sets up the future. They also reveal the asterix meaning at the end of the film which was epic!
