The Super Mario Bros. Movie is the film adaptation to the video game called, you guessed it, Super Mario Bros.. Illumination who created the Despicable Me franchise made this film with the help of Nintendo. When the trailers came out for this movie people didn’t like it. They thought the casting for Mario, Chris Pratt, was not like the video game voice. I was always rooting for the film however and was excited for it every day before its release. So, when watching The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it was no surprise that I loved it! I liked the characters and the voices of them which were great. I really loved the different take on the story. It was cool to see Luigi having to be saved instead of Princess Peach all the time. Surprisingly, the few songs that are part of it are actually catchy and cool. It might not drive the story much, but it gives kids like you and me a fun experience. What I disliked about the movie was probably the pacing on the runtime which is quite quick, and also the way the power-ups work. I found little nitpicks with how they use them in the film. Besides that, I would totally watch this movie and there are some post credit scenes, one after the short credits and one after the long credits, that are epic. To see the future of this great universe, we’ll have to wait until 2026 when we get The Super Mario Bros. 2 movie!
