KPop Demon Hunters is the newest Sony animated movie on Netflix and follows a group of girl pop singers who must save the world from demons. I love Sony Animation’s work on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse and Mitchells vs. the Machines, but I hadn’t even heard about this movie until a couple of weeks after release! So when people I know started telling me about this film saying it was good, it was bad, it was one of the best movies they’ve ever watched, I knew this movie was generating mixed feelings. I wasn’t really excited to see it, but I was eager to see what the trending fuss was about. So now I watched the film expecting the worst, but this movie is actually pretty good!
The animation and just overall style was amazing and felt like anime crossed with Spider-verse style animation. The action and flow during the girl’s fight scenes is so incredible and compelling to watch. The plot was great and something that I was most intrigued about. In fact, I predicted what the plot was going to be about as I had heard quite a few people chatting about it. The voice actors were all really good, but I think we can all agree that the songs are the best part about KPop Demon Hunters. I loved all the music, especially Soda Pop, you’re all I can think of, every drop I drink up, you’re my soda pop, my little so-… oh, sorry got sidetracked.
However, there was quite a big part of the plot which did TAKEDOWN the film. Get it? The song Takedown? Whatever! You see, the main character in this movie has a bond with two different people. When movies do this, one usually sticks out like a sore thumb and that’s what happened in this film. The main relationship they have focussed on is handled well, but the other relationship was kind of missing the mark. So, when that emotional part happened with the ‘lesser’ relationship, it didn’t hit as hard. Still a great film!
KPop Demon Hunters is a music filled adventure for everyone, but if this genre isn’t exactly your thing, you might have to wait for a Rock Demon Hunters for a little while, that’s if they make one.
About Kid Director

Hey there, movie buffs! I'm Kid Director, your mid-sized film fanatic who eats, sleeps, and breathes movies (and, you know, food and air—those are kinda crucial too). My love for movies started before I could even walk, and guess what? I'm still glued to the screen! I catch all the latest flicks and have been dishing out my own reviews for ages. My dream? To become a big-shot Director and snag a bunch of Oscars!
I noticed that while there are tons of review sites and YouTube channels, there aren't many made by kids, for kids. So, I thought, why not start one? Now, here we are! I'd love for you to join me in reviewing movies. Plus, it'll help your parents figure out what's worth watching and what's a total snooze-fest. Let's make movie magic together!

I thought the movie was alright but, l would suggest the movie to kids a bit younger. Though I think the backstory and storyline were really good.

I did NOT like it at first but then I was unwillingly forced by my friends to watch it again. Some parts are a little…cringey. And they songs were bad until they SOMEHOW got stuck in my head 😔 if you like K-POP then you should definitely watch it. I like how Sony chooses an audience instead of trying to make everybody like one movie.
