Hoppers is the latest Pixar animated film, which is actually the studio’s 30th movie. Last year I watched Elio and it was not very good, enjoyable, but definitely not rewatch worthy. So hearing about this film, I wasn’t too excited. It just looked like another disappointment for Pixar. Maybe originals are not their thing anymore? However, more trailers and reviews online sparked my interest. Lots of fans saying that Pixar is back and that Hoppers is a great movie. So finally getting to watch it I can say it is a very entertaining film, but I don’t think it is the movie to show that the studio’s back in the game with originals.
The animation is great and really pays attention to nature and everything about it. The story is also really fun and emotional at times, which were the parts where I DID feel Pixar was ‘back’. However, my favourite thing about this film is the humour. The jokes were all hilarious with some being surprisingly dark…but funny.
The one big thing that I think was bad with Hoppers was its pacing. The whole movie just dragged on and on and on and on. Especially the last 45 minutes. It felt like just one huge action film and it was crazy and fun, but got a bit repetitive over time. There was also a joke during that 45 minutes which was funny at first, but they just kept going on with it and it got irritating.
Hoppers is a film great for you, friends, and families ages 6+, but be mindful of some parts that could be sad for young ones who are sensitive to animal cruelty. I’m really excited for more originals coming soon, but now I am getting hyped for Toy Story 5 coming June!
About Kid Director

Hey there, movie buffs! I'm Kid Director, your mid-sized film fanatic who eats, sleeps, and breathes movies (and, you know, food and air—those are kinda crucial too). My love for movies started before I could even walk, and guess what? I'm still glued to the screen! I catch all the latest flicks and have been dishing out my own reviews for ages. My dream? To become a big-shot Director and snag a bunch of Oscars!
I noticed that while there are tons of review sites and YouTube channels, there aren't many made by kids, for kids. So, I thought, why not start one? Now, here we are! I'd love for you to join me in reviewing movies. Plus, it'll help your parents figure out what's worth watching and what's a total snooze-fest. Let's make movie magic together!
