Elio is the latest Pixar animated film which follows a young boy who gets abducted by aliens. The marketing for this movie has been very poor and has been delayed two times from March 1, 2024, then to June 13, 2025, and finally to June 20, 2025. Because of this, I wasn’t really excited for this film and after watching it, it’s not the best but it’s a good movie.

The animation was great in this movie with the planets and supernatural things that happen. The emotional and funny chemistry between Elio and his Auntie Olga who looks after him the whole movie was very good. Also, the Lord Grigon and Glordon, and Elio and Glordon chemistry were good as well, but they are my only positives.

Unfortunately, the movie goes downhill from here, the plot at the start goes from too slow to too fast! It takes a while for Elio to get abducted, but then the galaxy half of the film is too rushed. This part included Elio and Glordon’s relationship, stopping Lord Grigon and many other key things. I was actually kind of, a little tiny little miniature bit falling asleep. That big, big negative ruined the movie for me.

Elio is a fun, light-hearted movie for the family. Nothing like Top 5 Pixar, probably not even Top 10, but still a good watch. Also there is a post credit scene if you want to stay for it.

About Kid Director

Photo of Kid Director with Director hat pulled over his face.

Hey there, movie buffs! I'm Kid Director, your mid-sized film fanatic who eats, sleeps, and breathes movies (and, you know, food and air—those are kinda crucial too). My love for movies started before I could even walk, and guess what? I'm still glued to the screen! I catch all the latest flicks and have been dishing out my own reviews for ages. My dream? To become a big-shot Director and snag a bunch of Oscars!

I noticed that while there are tons of review sites and YouTube channels, there aren't many made by kids, for kids. So, I thought, why not start one? Now, here we are! I'd love for you to join me in reviewing movies. Plus, it'll help your parents figure out what's worth watching and what's a total snooze-fest. Let's make movie magic together!
