A Minecraft Movie is the film adaption of the video game (Minecraft) and Jack Black stars as Steve. This movie has made movie history with lots and lots of memes. People hated the trailers, clips and cast! I’ve been told this movie is awful! Horrible! Dumb and stupid! But there were also some good comments! So, now having watched this film I thought this movie was a lot of fun! Firstly, my cinema I went to was so crowded and every time there was a popular line like, “I am Steve”, the audience would recite along and cheer! From all my time of watching movies that has never happened before, and it boosted my attitude towards the film. If you’re going to watch this movie, don’t expect a quiet audience. Anyway, the positive things about this movie are that the CGI is amazing! The Minecraft universe feels so real and all the weapons and features from the game are very well done. However, the humour was the best thing in this film! Every time Jack Black spoke, it got me chuckling so hard! Also, the love relationship between Vice Principal Marlene and the random villager was hilarious! But the things I didn’t like about the film were the plot, which wasn’t good. It was so basic and just lazy. The opening scene was awkward and cringey! It was literally Jack Black narrating the whole time! There also wasn’t a main character! I was really confused about which person the director had planned on being the protagonist. The movie is entertaining and is a very watchable film. I’m excited for more movies in the franchise, which is teased in the post credit scene (after the full credits have rolled). Hopefully this film does well in the box office and doesn’t flop hard!
